ARPC Podcast documentation - by Andrew Nielson 1. There is a perl script create_rssfeed.pl which is run from a cronjob (see cpanel for editing cronjobs): 0 * * * * cd ~andrewn; ./create_rssfeed.pl 2. When create_rssfeed.pl is run (either by the cronjob or manually it does the following: * Downloads the latest version of ther sermons webpage (http://www.arpc.org.au/sermons) to sermons.html * Converts the table in the sermons webpage to a Comma Seperated Value (CSV) file called sermons.csv * Creates a new file called podcast.rss, puts some rss header info in it * Converts the sermons.csv file into rss format and writes this to the podcast.rss file * Writes some footer rss information into the podcast.rss file 3. This podcast has been submitted to itunes using the submit podcast function in itunes Notes: You can test the podcast.rss feed by going to itunes->Advanced->add new podcast and putting in: http://www.arpc.org.au/podcast.rss There is a lot of information about itunes podcasts here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/specs.html You can have a look at an example of a good podcast here: http://feeds.marshill.com/audio
